March 31, 1921- November 26, 2020
The TSAC organization is saddened by the death of longtime patron and contributing sponsor of TSAC theatrical productions Rose Boyd Butler. George Drayton Boyd, her son, directed the productions and even though Rose was in poor health, she made every performance and greeted all with her dazzling smile. The Freestone County Theatre attendees will fondly remember talents such as Mary Wilson, Freda Payne, Amanda McBroom and many others that Rose, George and Scott helped to sponsor. Amanda McBroom wrote "The Rose" and it is fitting for TSAC to dedicate this song to our beloved Rose Boyd Butler.
Rose Mildred McDonald Boyd Butler (99) of Teague, Texas passed away Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26, 2020 at her home following a lengthy illness.
Rose was known for her flamboyant dress, long dangly earrings, bun, high heels and all her world travels; and was involved in many civic activities in Teague, including the PTA President, and being a Founding Member and future President of the Freestone County Country Club. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist church in Teague.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Trinity Star Arts Council, online: trinitystarartscouncil.org or by mail: P.O. Box 1546, Fairfield, TX 75840, which Rose loved and supported these last dozen years, or to the Freestone Cancer Group, P.O. Box 1522, Fairfield, TX 75840.
